These watermelon Jello shots are a great adult-party addition to share and are very easy to make. They are super cute, contain alcohol and taste amazing! We don’t really like the taste of watermelon Jello, so we substituted with Strawberry flavoured. I have seen many recipes include fruit juice, but found it quite unnecessary since Jello has a high concentration of sugar and was sweet enough for us!

How much Alcohol is in Jello Shots?

In this cute Jell-o shot recipe we added 1 cup of Vodka to the packet of Jell-o plus one cup of warm water. They do become a bit softer than when using only water with Jell-o but the flavour was great! I think this recipe is the best since it has a great Jell-o flavour and you can taste the alcohol as well, best of both worlds.

Limes hallowed out.

You can substitute the red jello for any flavour of Jell-o but try to stick with something red so that it still looks like a mini watermelon.

How do I make these Watermelon Jello Shots?

  1. Place 1 cup of Vodka in your freezer until ready to use.
  2. Cut each lime in half lengthwise. Try to get a sharp knife to do this, and slice in one go so that it has a soft edge.
  3. Scrape out the lime insides with a spoon. Try not to rip the peel at all, take your time until you have a rhythm. Also, save the insides for another dish or drink, you can squeeze the lime juice into a container, or chop up the lime in a margarita to keep the party going!
  4. Place your limes on 2 plates so that they can sit level and not overcrowd the plate. You don’t want them to get bumped and spill over the edge.
  5. Pour the Jell-o powder into a mixing bowl, pour 1 cup boiling water into Jello, and mix until fully dissolved.
  6. Now grab your vodka out of the freezer and pour it in, mixing until fully incorporated.
  7. Pour your mixture into a liquid measuring cup so that it is easier to fill the limes. Fill each lime until almost at the top of the lime.
  8. Clear a place in your fridge that these won’t get bumped for a couple hours. Let sit in fridge for 3 hours up to overnight to set.
  9. Take a clean knife and run it under water. While it is still wet, slice each lime in half, not letting anything touch the Jell-o part of the lime. (To keep it in tact)
  10. Take your black sesame seeds and place 3 to 5 seeds on each side of the “watermelons”
  11. Plate your watermelon and keep refrigerated until ready to serve in an area that won’t get bumped. ENJOY!
