A simple yet addicting dish you need to have in your regular recipe rotation. The fries are extra crispy in this recipe, and when served with this creamy dill dip, you will not be able to stop eating until it is all gone!


How do I make my fries EXTRA Crispy?

To make fries extra crispy, first you will need to choose the correct potato type. We always use russet potatoes, since the starch in them makes them less watery than a waxy potato and helps keep them super crispy. The right temperature and the perfect amount of oil also play a huge part in the crispiness of the final product. Make sure to oil your sheet-pan, as well as the fries prior to cooking. You are basically shallow frying them in the oven.

Crispy Oven Baked Fries w/Dill Dip

Yield: 4 servings as a side
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 35 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 Russet Potatoes, cut into sticks *See Note
  • 4 Tbsp Canola or Vegetable Oil
  • 2 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

Dill Dip

  • 1 cup Mayo
  • 2 tsp Dill
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 450F
  2. Mix all ingredients in dill dip and set in fridge until ready to use.
  3. Spread sheet-pan with 2 Tbsp of the oil.
  4. In a large bowl, toss all of the ingredients until well incorporated. Spread out onto oiled sheet-pan.
  5. Bake in oven for 20 minutes, remove and flip potatoes over. Bake for another 15 minutes.
  6. Serve Hot with Dill Dip.

Notes

*When cutting potatoes, place in a container with warm water until ready to use.

You won’t believe how easy this recipe is! The only real secret to making an amazing dill dip is to make it ahead of time so the flavours have time to marinate with each other prior to eating.

The ingredients are probably things you already have in your kitchen. You can also use dried dill if that is all you have, although fresh is best, but tough to get outside of summer. You can also use bottles lemon juice if that is all you have. The chili flakes are only if you like to add a little bit of spice, if you would rather not, no worries, just omit it!
